New Orleans is back!! Kudos to NAR

New Orleans is back!! Kudos to NAR the National Association of Realtors

After almost in a week in the big easy, we return exhausted and excited.

I was there with 30,000 other realtors and affiliates. The first large scale convention in NO since Katrina.

First I must commend the National Association of Realtors for keeping this venue, when it may have seemed more expedient to reschedule. It was a bold leadership move. It was certainly a welcome boost to the local economy and all the locals we met told us so. Let’s hope NAR is the first of many more organizations to return.

Yes there are still areas of dereliction, and shops closed, even grocery stores. But the down town and French Market are looking great. The best way for a return to normal is to get more visitors, more jobs, more trade. Thanks Realtors.

I spent Thursday with about 60 other volunteer Realtors in a poor neighborhood, helping the school to get straight after. We worked hard and found the camaraderie and expressions of thanks from all we were helping were compensation a plenty for our efforts. In fact every day there were about 12 busses heading out to various volunteer sites. That could make 6000 work days organized to help the people of New Orleans.

My actual purpose of the trip was to attend the annual meetings of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS). We kept busy with meetings from Wednesday noon until the Inaugural dinner on Saturday, where I was installed as the Wisconsin Chapter President.
